You’ve heard the saying that information is power—but it can also provide peace of mind. Being told that you have to return to the breast center for a diagnostic exam, such as a breast biopsy, can be stressful. But knowing the facts and what to expect can help to alleviate any concerns you might have.
A breast biopsy is a procedure during which a physician removes breast tissue samples from an area that appears abnormal. This tissue is then evaluated by a pathologist to determine if the cells are cancerous or benign. At the breast center, we offer several types of breast biopsies using different imaging techniques.
